The current holders of the trophy, England were held to a goalless draw in Northern Ireland during the international window with Ukraine stretching their advantage at the top of qualifying Group F to five points thanks to wins against Serbia and Northern Ireland.
Ukraine have 24 points from their eight games and are guaranteed a place in the finals in Slovakia as one of the best runners-up as a minimum.
Three spots are available for best runners-up with the six others facing a play-off.
Following the Northern Ireland game, England eased to a 4-1 friendly victory against Austria, Morgan Rogers scoring twice.
October's games against Ukraine and Azerbaijan take place at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth and Bristol's Ashton Gate respectively.
