A huge Wembley crowd of over 73,000 was in attendance for the eagerly-anticipated clash between England and the USA on Saturday evening, Sarina Wiegman coming up against Emma Hayes as just one of the sub-plots in a big test of Wiegman's side as they try to gain momentum going into 2025 and the defence of their European crown.
And, after conceding four times to Germany at Wembley last month, England will take some confidence from a goalless draw against the Olympic champions, albeit where they struggled to create much in the way of clear-cut chances, the hosts' best spell of the game coming around the hour mark after surviving a strong spell of USA pressure after half-time.
Speaking to ITV after the game, Wiegman said: "This shows where we are at and we need to keep improving. It is November now. This is good but we want to be better again.
"We have to be better again."
England are in action for the final time this year, at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground, on Tuesday evening against Switzerland.
