Lee Carsley is expected to be named as the new Head Coach of the U21's, succeeding Aidy Boothroyd who left the role earlier this year following a group stage exit in the European Championship finals.
Former Blackburn Rovers and Everton midfielder Carsley worked alongside Boothroyd at a number of age group levels and is currently in charge of England's Under-20's.
If confirmed in the job he will be in charge when qualification for the 2023 Euros begins this September.
England have been drawn alongside Czech Republic, Slovenia, Albania, Kosovo and Andorra in Group G and are due to begin their campaign with a home match against Kosovo on 7 September.
