Harry Kane netted from the bench for Bayern Munich as they began their competitive 2024/25 campaign with a victory away at Ulm in the DFB Pokal on Friday evening.
The England skipper, on the back of a Euros tournament where he netted three times but also struggled to make his usual impact, came on as a substitute in what was Vincent Kompany's first meaningful game in the charge of the Bavarian giants and added the gloss to a comfortable 4-0 victory.
Kane currently stands on 98 England caps and will be looking to reach his century in September's Nations League ties with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin and then Finland at Wembley.
Ivan Toney, meanwhile, who played a key role in Kane's dramatic Euros winner against Slovakia, was left out of the Brentford side for their Premier League opener with Crystal Palace.
Transfer speculation has linked the 28-year-old with a move away from West London ahead of the deadline.
