Leicester City star James Maddison played a key role in his side's victory against Liverpool on Saturday, the 24-year-old scoring the first of the Foxes' three goals in a seven-minute second-half spell that sunk the champions.
It was impeccable timing from Maddison, with an interview on Football Focus being aired just before his role in another big scalp for Brendan Rodgers side.
The Coventry City academy product had told the BBC that he was 'very hungry' to add to his sole England cap, earned in a 7-0 win against Montenegro in November 2019.
"I know I am good enough."
With Jack Grealish and Phil Foden having impressed when given their international chances recently, Gareth Southgate knows that his Euro 2020 squad selection will disappoint some, and also cause more ripples than his World Cup 2018 choices, as the increased options for the Three Lions are highlighted by the talented midfield trio.
Another goal for Jamie Vardy, in the same Leicester game, will also do little to quell talk of a return to the England fold for the striker.
